This Nizza DOC is made from 100% Barbera grapes, a grape variety that is present in various areas of the Piedmont terroir. The vines of this variety are grown by the Michele Chiarlo winery team in vineyards located at an altitude of between 230 and 280 meters above sea level, facing south-east and south-west. The terroir is characterized by the so-called 'Asti sands', rich in clayey-calcareous marl. After harvesting, the grapes ferment alcoholicly in steel, macerating for 10-12 days. Then the refinement phase begins, first for 12 months in large barrels, and then, after bottling, for a further 6 months in glass.
