In the beginning there were sweets… Round and imperfect, witnesses of a passionate artisan work and, above all, of the dream of a young Sicilian who emigrated back from South America. A young man, Santo Finocchiaro, who despite the echoes of the approaching world war, returns to his homeland, at the foot of Etna, and bets on himself and on what he does best in the world: creating delicious sweets with an irresistible aroma and making children smile with joy. This is how, a century ago, Dolfin was born, the sweets factory of the Finocchiaro family of Giarre. A successful company story, passed down with wisdom and passion from father to son, and now in its third generation. After sweets, Dolfin tried its hand at confetti with a heart of crunchy Sicilian almonds; and then with cannellina, the spiced sweet, with a vague hint of the Orient, loved by adults and children alike. In 1948, the small artisanal factory of Dolfin was transformed into an industrial plant: here are the machines for the automation of production processes that allow to increase and speed up production. In 1964, the first chocolate factory was born where the first Easter eggs "made in Sicily" took shape, and their scent. In the nineties, the intuition and success of Polaretti, the ice lollies with fruit juice ready to freeze in the freezer at home and now exported all over the world. The rest is recent history: granitas and sorbets with Sicilian citrus fruits, frozen snacks, fruit snacks for delicious refreshing breaks throughout the summer and which, for the rest of the year, give way to chocolate in a thousand irresistible variations: coins for Christmas, sweets in the Befana stockings, eggs for Easter, chocolates and playful pralines. Sweets prepared by Dolfin with the same passion as a hundred years ago and which today are colored with the cartoon characters most loved by children, a successful brand of which Dolfin has been a licensee for years.
