For five centuries our family has lived in the lands of Leverano, in the heart of Salento. We have always listened to the land, understanding it and making it fruitful. In the early 1900s, we managed to complete the production cycle from cultivation to winemaking of the grapes of our estates, without ever altering the delicate balance of the place. Over time, the identity of people and place has overlapped until it has faded into a mix of memory and nature. A harmonious correspondence made of passion and respect, preserved with the calmness and discretion of those who are committed to doing things with care. Our company mission translates concretely into producing a wine that is an authentic and honest reader of the territory of origin, with a well-recognizable identity and irreproducible elsewhere. Although current knowledge and skills allow a vine to grow in multiple geographical and microclimatic contexts, the soul and character of the wine we produce cannot be replicated elsewhere. Wine, in fact, is not just a mere product of the transformation of grapes, but is born from a symphony of factors that intersect and make it a direct expression of the terroir of origin. It is no coincidence that we use the French term ‘terroir’, because it conveys an evocative force that goes beyond its literal meaning. This expression does not refer exclusively to the combination of microclimate and characteristics of the vine and soil, but implies the bond that wine has with the environment and the surrounding conditions, which include a fundamental factor: the human one. It is our task as winemakers to listen, understand and interpret the land and from this create a wine that reflects the production area and our identity as a company and as people.
