List of products by brand Galak
Since the 1930s, Nestlé has produced white chocolate bars, which however only merged into the Galak brand in 1967. Galak chocolate is known by this name only in Europe, with the exception of Spain, the United Kingdom and Ireland where it is known as Milkybar, a name also used in Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa. The name Galak derives from the Greek γάλα which means milk. Over the years, and especially in recent times, alongside the traditional chocolate bar, numerous other white chocolate products have been added, including: Galak Dessert, a white chocolate flavored cream sold in jars, Galak Bicolor, white chocolate bar, with cocoa dots, Galak with biscuit pieces, Galak Cereals, Galak Easter egg and Galak eggs. For the promotion of Galak in Europe the characters of the French cartoon Zum the white dolphin (Oum le Dauphin Blanc), which appeared on the product packaging, in television commercials and in all promotional campaigns related to the product. In the advertisements, the two children protagonists, Gianni and Marina, and the dolphin Zum faced enemies such as pirates or sharks. Nestlé terminated its license for Zum the White Dolphin characters in 2003, although until 2004 it continued to use a Zum-like dolphin as a mascot. For this reason, the copyright holders of Zum the White Dolphin have sued Nestlé. Currently Galak's mascot is Pluff, a specially created character with the appearance of a drop of milk.
